Rediscovering (Walt) Disney

Yesterday's post was for the non-Maddy photos from our most recent trip to Walt Disney World. Today I'm posting the best of Maddy's pics. There are 22 out of the 743 total Facebook photos posted, what can I say, the girl is photogenic! Click to enlarge, and enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago (Has it really been that long?) we took a trip to Walt Disney World. As is typical on our vacations I took a LOT of photos, 3,160 to be exact. Of those I only posted 743 on Facebook. And of those, I've picked these 22 as my favorites.  And before anyone says anything, NO, these do not include any Maddy pics. I'm still trying to edit down that group into a manageable number! Click to enlarge, and enjoy!

I love these black & white construction/publicity photos from Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Here is one of the Star Tours queue area under construction in 1989. The queue area was inspired by  Return of the Jedi , with Imperial forces invading the Ewok village on the forest moon of Endor. Most impressive is the towering 35-foot Imperial All-Terrain Armored Transport Walker (AT-AT) near the attraction’s entrance.     Vintage Walt Disney World  Disney Parks Blog

When I was down at Walt Disney World in 1991 there was still a lot of evidence of "The Rocketeer" at the Disney/MGM Studios, after all it had just been released that summer. I remember seeing the Spruce Goose model hanging from the ceiling of one of the restaurants, lots of posters and other collectibles of course and seeing many props and vehicles on the backlot tour. A large part of the original Backlot Tour and Residential Street were razed to make room for the new attraction: "Lights, Motors, Action!™ Extreme Stunt Show". Anyway... I was cleaning up my home office and uncovered a box of Topps "The Rocketeer" Trading Cards - Its an almost complete set (I don't have the 11 stickers)! I flipped through them and quickly realized why they won't fetch much on the memorabilia market... they kinda stink! Many of the scenes are unremarkable and many of the iconic scenes are missing.
