THE REFUGE MEDIA PROJECT

Well I found something to help pass the time and keep my hand in the biz. I am volunteering at "The Refuge Media Project" in Boston (Roslindale). The project was started by Ben Achtenberg, he is the project director and the executive producer of the documentary. Ben is an Oscar nominated producer and a seven-time CINE Golden Eagle winner. It’s estimated that more than 500,000 immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers in the United States have been victims of politically motivated torture. They come here from Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia — some legally, some undocumented, some with families and some very much alone. They live in major American cities and in small towns. Some survivors bear visible scars, but many more have been wounded in ways that remain hidden. WHERE HAVE ALL THE JOBS GONE?

So, I'm not whining, or complaining, well okay, complaining a bit. But what the hell happened to all of the TV work around here? I'm pretty frustrated with the lack of jobs and job leads right now. I know I need to do my part in the job search arena and I think I have been and continue to do so. But c'mon, somebody throw me a bone already will ya? I have broadened my geographical search area to include NYC now. I'll just have to figure out the commute and how comfortable sleeping in my car is. Okay that's it, just venting a bit before I start surfing the net and pounding the pavement AGAIN!!! See you at the movies!
