So, now that it's official, I can say what my latest gig is: Art Department PA on "In Your Eyes".
I know, I know, most folks think it's funny that I get so excited about working as a PA. But, A) I'm excited just to have the work; B) It's written and produced by Joss Whedon; and C) I'm working in a different department than I've ever worked before!
And, I just found out that "Royal Pains," star Mark Feuerstein will join Michael Stahl-David, Zoe Kazan and Abigail Spencer in the cast.
Night & Day Pictures' Michael Roiff and David Rothenberg will produce the "metaphysical love story" with Whedon's Bellwether Pictures partner Kai Cole.
Below is the press release from Matt Newton at the NH Film & Television Office, and a link to the IMDb page for "In Your Eyes". So cool.
NEW HAMPSHIRE IS IN THEIR EYES
Independent Film Set To Shoot In State This Month
Principal photography is set to begin next week in New Hampshire on the independent film IN YOUR EYES written by Joss Whedon and to be directed by Brin Hill. Whedon is executive producing through his micro-studio Bellwether Pictures. The film will be produced by his partner in Bellwether, Kai Cole, and Night & Day Pictures' Michael Roiff.
IN YOUR EYES, starring Zoe Kazan, Michael Stahl-David and Mark Feuerstein tells a metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined.
Filming will take place on both coasts as the story is centered in both wintry New England as well as the New Mexico desert. After an exhaustive search for possible shooting locations, the producers settled on New Hampshire and are extremely excited about the choice.
"Location is very important to me," says Cole. "I think people can tell when you're tricking them with movie magic. We wanted everything to be authentic, from the architecture to the landscape and New Hampshire is perfect for us."
Roiff adds, "As a Massachusetts native I've always wanted to come back East to shoot something. But I never imagined how much fun it could be. Everyone here has been so incredibly helpful and welcoming, I don't know why we ever shoot anywhere besides New Hampshire."
"There are a lot of states that try to lure you with promises of tax incentives and the like," says Roiff. "But the reality is that being film-friendly is about much more than that-and New Hampshire really defines film-friendly."
The initial introduction to the New Hampshire area came when the film's producers made contact with real estate agent Kelly Erwin who helped steer them towards potential locations. She introduced them to Stayci Fast and Jennifer Colvin of New England Home Staging. Roiff remarked, "Kelly, Stayci and Jennifer have been incredible ambassadors. Between them and Matthew Newton, director of the New Hampshire Film & Television Office, we feel right at home 3,000 miles away from Los Angeles."
"It's been all hands on deck here," says Newton. "We're thrilled the producers have chosen the Granite State as their backdrop. We have a number of great New Hampshire people working on the project, and I believe this is a testament to just how ideal a state like New Hampshire can be for independent filmmaking."
In Claremont, where a portion of the film will be shooting, the producers are working with New Hampshire film community stalwarts Nick Koloski and Lee Hentschel to find the unique locations that this film requires-locations that just don't exist anywhere else. "We could never achieve half of this production value back in Los Angeles," says the film's director Brin Hill. "We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to everyone in New Hampshire. We're so lucky to be working here."
